Pelješac wine tour
Half / full day (from 6 to 10 hours)
Ston is a small medieval town, located at the very beginning of the Pelješac peninsula. Famous for its 5, 5 km long city walls which encircle the town since 14th century, soon after peninsula of Pelješac was purchased by Republic of Dubrovnik. It is also very well known for its oldest salt factory in Europe, and delicious oysters, which grow in Mali Ston bay.
Croatia is known as a country with many indigenous variety of wine, but on the southern part we are all proud with Plavac Mali and Malvasija of Dubrovnik. Plavac mali is red variety of vine which gives the best results on the steep sloaps, exposed to the sun, especially on the Dingač and Postup appellation. Wines made of Plavac Mali are dark, full bodied wines, with high alcohol and sometimes strong tannins, which gives you information about the position where they grow.
